Ranking Is Getting Harder

Recent algorithm changes by Google have certainly made ranking keywords a heck of a lot harder than they used to be! In May Google even introduced a "ranking delay" for new websites built after May. If your website was built pre-May 2014 it was a lot easier to rank. We have built a number of websites post-May and whilst it is too early to say for sure, the quick rankings we were seeing earlier in the year haven't been as evident. The Message Is This. You Have To Be Patient, You Have To Have A Long Term Approach. The update that is having massive repercussions right now is Panda. Panda refreshes every 20 days. What this algo is all about is "user experience". What happens when a visitor lands on your website after a Google search? Do they bounce right back to the search results and try someone else's site or do they stay and investigate other pages. Unless you are in the business of emergencies, think locksmith, plumber etc, the latter result is what you want. At least it's what Google wants. With their Panda and Penguin updates, SEOs all over the world are constantly in a heightened state of anxiety wondering if and when their sites will be hit. Many black hat SEO companies who dish out spam all day long have seen their sites and their customers sites get hammered time and time again. Even white hat companies nervously wait for every forthcoming update from the big G. Every SEO and would be online marketer has used the line "links no longer work!" SEO in 2012 and beyond

Evil Pandas and dastardly Penguins were sent to test our resolve. When the Google beast were unleashed some of our sites suffered a ranking loss, and some were hit harder than others. For instance our website only dropped from page 1 to the middle of page 2 however, other sites in our portfolio suffered ranking penalties of between 20 to 70 places (2 to 7 pages) This all happened in April and May 2012 and I can honestly say it took the wind out of our sails. To know that millions of other sites were hit as well is not really a comfort. You work damn hard to get those page I rankings and to see all of your hard work disappear into oblivion is devastating. Domination Of Google

Total domination of page 1 on Google can be achieved quite quickly and easily for local SEO clients. Bart Loadsman is a young chiropractor from Gonnellabah, NSW and practices in Lismore and Casino. Bart is a friend of our son Matthew. Lovely young man, no website and not much happening from a marketing point of view. Recently went out on his own so was looking for clients. We try to take on one client on a no-fee basis at a time and, as a favour to our son, we took on Bart’s marketing.
