10 Biggest Website Mistakes
We deal with businesses every day and never cease to be saddened by the websites that we see and how incredibly ineffective they are.
Every business has been told they need a website, so they have dutifully gone out there and got one. They have been built by Web Developers and Designers, who frankly often don’t have a clue about simple and easy functionality and customer conversion.
90% of businesses that we see have websites that never bring them any new customers, does yours?
To be successful in today’s highly competitive world you don’t want to be part of the 90%. So to give you a hand, we have put together these free videos on the top 10 biggest mistakes that we find on websites.
If you make all these changes to your website, you will see a massive improvement in potential customers finding you. The more leads you get the more customers you get.
So lets get straight into it.
The Biggest Website Mistake Of All
This is the biggest mistake of all, especially for local and national businesses.
Is your telephone number in large print at the top right hand side of your home page, preferably in the banner where someone can see it immediately and pick up the phone.
I don’t know how many times I have had to search a website to try and find a phone number.
You want people to ring you and buy your product or service or even ask you questions. If you can get them on the phone you have a significantly higher chance of converting them into customers.
Not only do we have our phone number at the top of the page, we have our images and phone numbers at the bottom of the home page and at the bottom of each of our packages. We add our image for several reasons.
Firstly we go to networking functions and if someone is looking for us because they have met us we want them to know they have come to the right place,
Secondly for people who have never met us they get to see we are real, ordinary, normal people. Getting to see a potential supplier before you pick up the phone can be a very powerful incentive. They already have a concept of who you are. Don’t hide because you hate all your photos. Go and get the best photo you can that represents who you are and get it onto your website.
And then frankly, just get over it. Remember most of us hate our photos but people want to do business with people they like and a genuine photo can make the difference as to whether they pick up the phone or fill in your form.
The Benefits Of A Contact Us Page
Not only should you have your phone number in the banner, but you should have a Contact Us Page with a link in your main navigation area that can be easily seen. Our main navigation area is at the top. I often see Contact Us pages with just a form, you have to email someone and most people can’t be bothered so they just move on.
I don’t know about you, but I often wonder when I see contact forms, if they even work.
While we are on the Contact Us Page, please have all of your details on this page. It should have all phone numbers, your fax number, if you still have one, your Email address or any other means of contact you have such as DX numbers.
You should also include your full business name, your physical and postal addresses, Your ABN or Tax Registration Number and your opening hours or hours you are available and the types of payments you will accept.

Is Your Website Working For You?
You want to make it as easy as possible for customers to talk to you. Don’t make them work for it.
Good ideas are useless without action. Have a look at your website now and see how hard it is for someone to contact you. If you can find your phone number and contact details only because you already know where they are then I strongly recommend you make some changes to your website.
If you don’t know how to make changes yourself then email your web developer and give them a list of the changes you want made
